Hello there, it’s been a while.
I know it looked like I had basically abandoned this site, but I didn’t; I plan to change design sooner or later—more later, as I still like this one a lot—and blog more frequently.
But now let’s talk about the entry subject.
One evening of last week I had issues with my ADLS connection, and I had to call my ISP provider to solve it; I only talked with their free basic support, as IT support shuts down at 10:00 pm, and they guy I talked to blew me away….with his total lack of knowledge!
He basically said my issues depended from something interfering with my wifi signal, and the only way to solve it would be changing my connection’s parameters but I’d have to pay for the IT work; what he said sounded weird to me, and in any case I’d have had to talk with my mum about it but she was already sleeping, so I waited until the following morning. By then the issue had solved on its own and, reading my local newspaper, I found out my issues had been caused by something entirely different from what the support guy said: a local ISP repeater had been damaged, and connections in all my area had been affected….so much for “interferences”; if I had gone with what the rep had told me, I would have messed up my whole connection….WTF?!?!
I understand you cannot expect much from free support, but this is really ridiculous and outrageous: instead of telling me the real reason for the problem I was having, the rep downright lied to my face inventing a far-fetched reason for my issues; he was ready to make me pay for an unexistant problem on my side, when the real issue was on their side.
If my current ISP wasn’t the only one who works in my local area—and the fact issues are not very common—I would have changed provider after what happened.
But problem’s over, so I can work online normally.
Sorry for the rant, but I’ve had this in my head for a while and I needed to vent; thanks for reading it all.
Gotta go now, to prevent my dog to chewing away one of my mum’s slippers; see you all on next entry.
Take care, guys, and have a wonderful Sunday.
